Since withdrawing the MKIII Capri from the DRM in 1983, Zakspeed have competed in single seater racing (Formula 1, Champ Cars and Formula 3), Sports cars (GT1, Group C, Interserie, 24 hr events) plus national and international touring cars (ITC and DTM).

For 2006, the team will be taking part in the prestigious FIA GT Championship racing alongside the likes of Porsche, Maserati, Aston MArtin and Lamborghini. The series will visit Great Britain, Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Romania and Dubai.

For this campaign, the team have chosen the mighty Saleen S7R and results from the first two events have been very impressive (see news page)
