Word has reached us of a new series of photo books featuring the cars of the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. First in the series is "DRM 80", a glossy 36-page booklet with a forward by Hans Heyer (in German text) and featuring 70 very beautiful, vintage full colour images from the 1980 season. The Zakspeed Capris are heavily featured along with Heyer's Lancia, the Kremer Porsches and Schnitzer BMW 320s. The book is available now by mail order from IMD Motorsport in Germany. Highly recommended.

We have heard that GoGoGoMagazine will shortly be publishing a web article entitled "The full story on the Zakspeed Capri Turbo". It will include fresh pictures of Stefan Muecke's restoration of the 1980 Division II car.

A big thankyou to Stefan Muecke (of Muecke Motorsport in Berlin, Germany) who has contacted www.zakcapri.co.uk with news on the restoration of the Zakspeed Capri that was driven by Klaus Ludwig between 1980 and 1982 in the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft

The car, chassis number ZAK-G5C-002/80, was purchased in 2003 and Stefan hopes to have the restoration completed by the summer of 2009, with roll-out later in the year. Stefan has supplied some images which have been published on our CURRENT OWNERS page

"During September 2006 Peter Zakowski filed for bankruptcy at the bankruptcy court in Bitburg (Eifel). A related article appeared in the German sportscar magazine "Sport Auto", issue 01/2007. Whether or not this will have an impact on the racing team is currently not clear. Additionally, the 2006 Saleen that raced in Fia GT1 category was offered for leasing in several motorsport related magazines. For 2007 the racing team originally planned to race 3 Mosler MT900 in FIA GT3 category. This failed due to a missing homologation through the FIA for this car."

Zakspeed rebuild article

Classic Ford magazine (June 2006 issue) features a giant 14-page article on the rebuild of Klaus Ludwig's 1981 Division 2 car at Niederzissen.

Work began in 1997 and the magazine features exclusive pictures of the finished article. Also included is a double-sided A4 poster.
