ZAKSPEED/FORD LIVERIES 1978-1983

Motor racing was a riot of colour in the 1970s. Striking graphic design and bold colours played no small part in the Zakspeed Capri legend, particularly on the 1978 to 1981 cars.

The low and sleek Capri seemed to lend itself to body length stripes that emphasised its slippery, aggressive looks and wedge shape (as every Capri boy-racer knew!).

The later cars were not quite as colourful. However, the powder orange of Ludwig's 1982 Jagermeister car was evocative of Bruce McLaren's Can-Am cars from a decade earlier. The 1982 D & W car featured steep bands of white and sky-blue, each with one of the store's top selling brand logos.
